Just got back from the barn....OMH, he was so amazing. He untrailered nicely, let us take off the traveling boots and we put him in an empty ring for a while so he could stretch his legs and see what was going on. He trotted right over when we call his name, and he was following me around when I walked into the ring. He didn't seem nervous at all. He kept calling to the other horses, and had his ears perked the whole time...My trainer got on him first to see if he was going to be really spooky, and she jogged him around, and he was fine. So I got on -even though doctor said not to..- and rode him around, and he was wonderful then too. As it started getting a little darker he got a little nervous, and when we untacked him he rolled twice -good rolls though, we had enough long time horse owners watching him- and then we put him in a quarintine stall -he has to stay in that stall for 48 hours just to make sure he's not sick or anything- and he went strait for the hay. Of course, he was a little nervous in the stall because it's a lot smaller then what he's used to, so he would take a few bites, then pace around and paw at the ground, eat some more....We gave him one treat and he ate it right away and then went back to his rutine of eat, pace, paw, eat. He found his water buckets and is probably a little stressed because there's no one really at the barn now, but I'm going back tomorrow to groom him some more and give him a bath and just find ways to make him comfortable there. He's used to being a field all day and in a stall at night, and because we have no fenced in fields, I'm going to have to hand walk him up a trail and let him graze for a while and give him time out of the stall.
Tomorrow I'm walking up to CVS to get shampoo for him and then some stuff for my lizard...
And his old owner is so awesome...she wants to come to the show in October (I think) and she sent down Doc's winter blankets, some treats he likes, a typed up paper of his body language and tips on how to worm him, she got him shoed the day before he came down, made sure he got his shots, sent down all his paper and was so happy that we would take care of him and use him for shows instead of just trails.
@OctoberRain, that horse is gorgous...And so clean! >.< I gotta find a way to keep Doc so clean...
