I don't see why so many people are just like... turned off by the thought of not having a cat/dog 'sona.

I find it kind of...very annoying. Seeing cat, dog, and wolf sonas is just annoying in general. Wolfaboo wolf sonas especially. And warriorcat sonas. =3=

It doesn't annoy me so much as it just... upsets me. It seems like most people who have those aren't exactly like... "Yes, a wolf describes me" so much as it's "Well, everyone else has one."

When I had a design contest, quite a while ago, I asked for any spieces other than a wolf, Mainly a bird, but a wolf just doesn't describe me. Its upsetting to see the majority with wolf fursonas.
