Just find a spot and dig straight down, then make sure to have plenty of dirt, then climb back up by jumping and putting dirt under you. That's why I have 38 iron ))

If you do that you can mine straight into lava, or fall down a cave and die of fall damage.

Yah xD - there isn't any lava in PE ( I don't think ) ok, there are, but not at the bottom xDD

Bedrock is un-mineable, so it stops you.
