I love drawing men and all things manly and gay.
I can't draw animals at all, I just like to look at them and wish I could
I rarely take commissions for anything other than real money, sorry kids

I've edited out my Sephiroth thing here. lol. I know it wasn't meant to be offensive.
Its hard to follow my train of thought. It even took me a moment but then I realized the original picture was drawn in likeness of Sephiroth to begin with. ;3 So in the end I face palmed myself. I had a durp moment. It's been a long day. But that's an interesting thought as well. I am trying to get away from the Sephiroth look. Won't help when she's wearing all black.... wait... how many times did I just say Sephiroth? Anyway! Trust me the edits have made a great deal of difference, now I just have to practice like mad to get it down but I'm fine and dandy with that.

Edit: Oh wow, I see what you mean with your red line/edits. Just that should help. Thanks for pointing out those details. I'm not very keen at drawing people. (I'm use to drawing these cats you see.) Yet alone ladies. I've always liked to draw them like men... watch my men come out like ladies. Either way wow thank you very much! I'll give this a glance over and see all the ways I can improve. ;3

Thanks everyone. I look forward to that redline. And I guess I must have missed that, thank-you :3

Looks like everyone else covered everything, so... I suggest to make your poses more flowy in the future is to use lines of action (this also sometimes helps you figure out where the weight of the character is being placed). Here's a brief tutoria I foundl: http://browse.deviantart.com/resources/ ... n#/d1bp7j1

Any criticism is welcome, and a red line would be wonderful <3

I can't really help anyone looking for crits at the moment, sorry.

I whipped up a redline showing corrections and then a comparison. I hope it helps :3

Overall, it is adorable :3 Your main problem was that front leg-the shoulder was sort of weirdly shaped and thin compared to the other legs. The paw was also pulled back unnaturally. This sounds weird, but if you can't do the pose yourself (Vaguely xD You've heard how human limbs can be compared to many four pawed mammals, right?) I doubt the character could. Also, the paws are sooo tiny, I'm worried the doggy might flop .3. So I suggest you widen them just a bit. The toes on the other front leg were also bending in, rather than out-they should go out to support the dog's weight, kind of like how polar bears spread their legs way apart to distribute their weight on thin ice. Then, unless the doggy has been eating one too many Milkbones, the belly should pull in at the end of the ribcage and toward the legs, and protrude more at the chest as TamberElla describes in this tutorial. Oh, and, the ears and tail in my version aren't necessary edits. My hand just didn't want to draw tails or ears like that today xD
I hope this helps you! :3

I'm still learning, but that is a great improvement from the way I used to draw wolves.

@painted<3; No problem, glad I could help :3

@orange.cyrus; The legs look awesome, first of all, the paws especially hoooolllyyyyy shitaki wish I could draw 'em <3 The ears and head, too. The only thing I'm seeing is that the body is too long (it's a canine, right?) and the tail is too tiny. Rest looks awesome dsgnafgnsfm <333

orange.c y r u s♥,

The face and pose are adorable, but the legs and actual body could do with some work. x)
The right front leg (our right) is a little wonky, and the hind legs are a little too small.

The body should also be MUCH stockier.

Making the face a little blunter might also help pronounce it as a hyena. It looks a little ferretish now.

Hyena anatomy can be a little strange to get a grasp of, as they are not canines, but are very alike them. (Hyenas actually fall into the Feliformia class, which is "Feline-like carnivores" essentially; Mongooses also fall into this class.)

-- Just read you don't reference-- try to get into the habit of doing that.

sephiroth ----> lightning = initial thought.
that wasn't supposed to sound offensive btw.

Alexander I swear you are the only person posting human art on this thread so far.
Is it weird that when i saw Azul posting humans I got really excited?

Anyways, well, nobody wanted to help me with fabric so hear *edit:here is my sketch design as it stands.
haven't even finished designing... not even close to done OTL.

There's nothing wrong with using refs! It's the best way to learn anatomy. But you need to know the difference between copying and referencing. It helps if you memorize and take notes on why things look like what they do in creatures, and patterns there tend to be. A helpful one I keep in mind is the curves in legs. Blahh I just realized I'm babbling pointlessly xD mkay I'll stop and say something helpful.
If it's a hyena, I suggest you also made the top of the neck thicker, as hyena's necks kind of hunch. Looks awesome though, I can't get over dem pawss <33
