Well, I was trying to think of something interesting that I could put here, and I figured that my Unicorn would work pretty well. xD

To describe my Unicorns-- my depiction of the species from my story "Guilt", that is--

I try to follow more along the basis of traditional Unicorns with mine. Cloven hooves, lion's tail, and a touch of cervine to go with that equine. I also do NOT give them long manes. They have a coarse, short mane, instead.

They are also not white and mystical as the norm of Unicorns. They come in darker earth colours, usually in greys, blacks, and browns. Their horns are also stubbier and thicker, much like a rhino's.
And as for being pure, mystical, and beautiful-- nope, the Unicorns in my story are considered BAD LUCK.

Being in the presence of an alive Unicorn is said to cause bad luck. The cause of this old superstition is because the Unicorns emit a very ghoulish song. The noise that they make is sort of relative to a wolf's howl-- both in pitch and purpose-- but it also sounds like a loud wail. The sound is extremely eerie, and sends shivers down the spine.

Oddly enough, though, it is said to be LUCKY if one can possess a portion of the Unicorn's dead body. A year of luck is said to be given to anyone that comes to possess the tail hair of one.

This particular Unicorn here is Nimbus. He is missing a good chunk of his horn, as it was cut off by humans. It generally takes 20 years for a Unicorn's horn to grow completely back. They live up to 200 years.

Image

There anatomy is, as said, supposed to be a blend between sort of cervine and equine-- with the lion's tail, extended ears, other mute points-- but I'm afraid I'm not the strongest with equine or cervine. xD

Please don't message me asking if I'm selling or trading Closed species characters. If I haven't said otherwise? The answer is no.

<3Fenris<3: Wolf Anatomy Tutorial I'm not the best at wolves but all I can say is start referencing and using tutorials to get their anatomy down.
Also remember if you can post about a piece of artwork ten posts above yours, you should. Even if its a short comment how you think the piece is.

Twiggy: I love the colors you used. I think its the shoulders/front legs that are misshaped though. Also the rear back leg. Though I love the over all coloring and the head/ears. I can't normally use ms paint for the life of me.

That's awesome Twiggy, maybe the stomach could be skinnier if it was a wolf living in an area where food is scarce. Another thing is the tail. It looks a bit slim, it has the 'poof' in the middle but no shagginess to demonstrate the fur.

Any critique/redline? I'm designing this new character. It is a demon with a feline anatomy and three tails. He has bandages around his ribs/stomach, and ankles.

Welp, I wanted something quick to doodle, and I remembered earlier in the thread there was a mention of using greys to colour eye whites, not white-- so I doodled some eyesss

Image

I am reminded every time I draw realistic eyes just how much I hate eyelashes, lol.

ANYWHO--
Yes, it's better to colour the "whites" of eyes with light grays. It helps to define the light around the eye, and is just overall more realistic as, with eyelids, the whites of your eyes tend to be much darker than most people realize.
I always shade with reds, too.
You later make the eye POP with a white shine over it.

Edit:

And, thank you, Twiggy! x)
I've never been a fan of normal, horsey Unicorns, so I love making them more unique. :3

Susiron: I actually forgot to comment on your unicorn. That's a very interesting take on the whole idea. I liked the story and I read it last night. I love their earthly colors too. ;3 The eyes look nice. I've never been able to do realistic eyes, at least for six years so I just need to practice again. X3 I'm sure if I looked at what I use to do I'd cringe anyway. But they're very nice, I love the eyelashes.

☪ℓυηαя∂яσρ☪: At first glance it looked canine based to me. The neck is a bit too long, and the head seems to sit on top of the neck instead of connected with it. The nose is too long, ears too pointy. (Yet that depends on the species of feline you were aiming at. Per say a lynx isn't going to have round ears.) The tails seem really stiff and don't flow. I also only see..three legs? He/she would tumble over in that case. The front shoulders are also misplaced. Let me pull some of the tutorials from the front.
Basic Cat Tutorial- Canine vs Feline Face Tut - Felines vs Canines Anatomy Tutorial
I hope these well help a bit more than I can. ;3 I love where your going you just need a bit more knowledge about feline anatomy in general.

and your welcome :D

@☪ℓυηαя∂яσρ☪ hmm, not sure if you meant to do this, but the back end, it seems too curved...as if theres no bone there. and the chest/neck is too high. Its really cool though :D
