I think maybe the forest. There was less gary stus and mary sues back then. However, I kinda like the lake territories.

The forest had better territories, scenery and the cats were better there. Better plots..
Well, I could go ranting all day about the old forest Because I hate unnecessary changes...though I guess Erin did need big drama and new drama :3 So no blaming for me. I like the lake...old forest is better though. I miss all the cats that lived there D:

And I like the forest better, just because I more familiar with it. Haven't gotten far enough in the series to know much about the lake territories. I know everything that happens in the series though.
