My mom is heavily against me reading them because she doesn't like them. I did start the first book however and I was part of this club about Harry Potter once, but the club died and I never finished the first book because it was extremely slow paced and boring compared to some of the other books I had been reading. I was always going to give it a second try, I just never got around to it. xD And now I've been reading books about people who have mental disablities and physical disorders (I guess that's what you could call them...things like Cancer and stuff...don't know what to classify those as :/) so they just haven't been on my high priority list lately. I'll get around to them eventually...like this summer or something...When I'm reading like 3 books a day because I have nothing better to do. xD

I highly suggest you give Harry Potter another go-round, when you get the chance... I know it's not for everyone, but those books are some of my absolute favorites!

If you're interested in books about disorders and stuff, I suggest Mockingbird (a very good book about a girl with asperger's syndrome), or The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime (a very good book about a boy, also with asperger's syndrome). Although, I must warn you, if you read the latter, you'll have the ending to The Hounds of the Baskervilles spoiled for you. x( Guess I'm never reading that book... (and I was planning to, too!)

edit: I just looked it up, and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime isn't actually specifically about Asperger's- it's not that precise. Just know that it's a sort of autism. xD Anymawho, it's a great read.

Soooooo, I was thinking:

Who thinks the Harry Potter books were butchered by the movies? I personally LOVE the movies, though the books are better. But, you know, why would you leave out Peeves?! I mean, in book one, *SPOILER ALERT* when they're going on the third-corridor to go into the whole trapdoor place.

:P Gah, three months is too long for me; I usually re-read the series every week or so.

Has anyone read Troy and Ithaka by Adéle Geras? They're both re-tellings of The Odyssey from the island of Ithaka and the city of Troy. They're amazing!!!
Speaking of that, does anyone have any really good historical fiction book recommendations? I can't seem to find any good ones. I like all time periods, of any country, especially kings and queens from Britain and France.

I scream at books all the time. Or tell the characters when they shouldn't be doing something. But they never listen to me. They just go ahead and walk into the creepy haunted house, or they walk right into the trap I saw coming. :)

I generally don't like the movies that are made after books. But the Harry Potter movies were quite good. Though I'm quite unhappy that the producers didn't even think to add in Peeves.

Hm, well, I agree that the films are generally less good than the books, I dislike the fourth Harry Potter film, they just left out waay too much.

Has anyone read "The lord of the rings" by the way? Its a.m.a.z.i.n.g. in my opinion!

But the real disspointment was the Eragon film -.-

I've heard of it, but I haven't read it. I think it's about a boy who's brother has cancer.
