Oh, and tip- if you read them, read the great tree of avalon first; it gives you a lot of interesting insight and lets you really feel like you know the characters. Even though technically it's supposed to come after.

It's a modern adaption of the stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and it is the most amazing thing I've ever seen.
I wrote a fanfiction about it, actually. [But not like those weird fanfictions where you ship random couples. It's an alternate ending to the last episode.]

His name is Neil Gaiman. I haven't read M is for Magic, but I have read many of his other books, and he is a weird author. Actually, my favorite book by him was only one in which he co-authored, Good Omens. That one was by him and Terry Pratchett. (Speaking of Terry, Nation was so good! And frustrating! I love happily-ever-afters, and then he had to go and end it like that!) Good Omens is the third funniest book I've ever read, and certainly one of the most interesting. It has what you would call... wry humor, I guess.
And I am late on this count, but 1984! I could go on for hours about that book!!!!! Even though I utterly despised it and always will because of the stupidly realistic way he ended it, it is by far the most influential novel I have ever read (influential on myself, I mean). I am constantly finding myself making little references to it! I hate that!!!
(Hmmm... I just thought of another book I'd like to discuss, but I'll hold off on that thought for right now.)
