Ooh... sounds like 1984 *shudders*

1984 was the BEST. BOOK. EVER.

George Orwell is a GENIUS. 8D I loved Animal Farm, and I can't wait to read 1984!!!!

Finished the first book of the "Fell" series. Now I'm onto the second. And...just for the record....anyone interested in reading the series, don't read the first book. It was AWFUL. The second's a LOT better, and I'm only on chapter 11.

When you say "Fell", are you talking about The Sight? The one about wolves?

No, it's another book series.

Oh, good ^^ Because The Sight and Fell are both awesome books.

Since Zee and Gina don't want to read it right now, do you want me to mail 1984 to you? I guarantee that you'll read it all in one day xD

I read Animal Farm when I was in grade 5. It was amazing! I just bought 1984 and am reading it right now. Funny thing, I wasn't in any of the public libraries.

Jack Kerouac, On the Road

There's a reason for that. It's extremely..erm... GENIUS, as in "Attacks the fed. Government" xD And the fact that the middle of it consists of Winston's love affair xD

In my humble opinion, Unwind is not a thing like 1984. I love them both dearly, but they seem completely different.

About 1984... (Spoiler alert!)
I hated it for a long time. I really did. After I read it, I felt cheated because it doesn't have a conventional "happy ending." But then I realized, Winston isn't someone special, like many of the protagonists of other books are. He's not the Chosen One who's supposed to take down Big Brother, and when he doesn't, it's the best ending of all. Winston is just an ordinary man in his world, and to accept that this is what would happen to an ordinary man is at once frightening and relieving. It's good to know that Orwell had the strength to sacrifice his main character rather than break the rules of his created world. Now, I love 1984, because I view it as more of a case study than a story. It's stark, terrifying, and realistic. And its ending is the truth, which is the best possible ending of all.

Oh, I never said that Unwind was like 1984. Both of them are backwards utopias, in a way, sort of like the Giver. But none of them are really alike- if they were, they wouldn't be any fun to read.

Has anyone read Gathering Blue or The Messenger? They are like slight, sorta sequels to the Giver.

I've read Gathering Blue, but I've never heard of the other one.
