English 'prep': Can be known as homework, pre-prep is like pre-school, prep is something to do with education I'm getting the feeling here.

Anyway, I have no idea what the meaning of 'prep' is in that story. Prep is used as a school term here, to...as far as I know. As for the things Draco says, I'm very sure few American men would say that, either. The only fact that leads to the author being American would be the spelling.
Edit: Maybe they meant this kind of prep? It still doesn't seem right, though. o-e
