On the topic of disaster fanart: I, personally, agree with the Japanese fans. For example: I'm American. 9/11, for many Americans, was a horribly traumatic event with lots of loss. So, I would not like to see fanart of a bloody and bruised America about it. It's actually mildly offensive to those involved. Now, granted, the fanartists and fanfic writers are just trying to show they care, but, you know, it's not really the time for that.

I guess this is why Hima-Papa doesn't do strips about serious events (most of the time).

Anyways, if it involves a country terrorizing another, I don't care as much for it. I just can't imagine any of them as evil.
Hence, I don't like fanart showing, for example, Germany as a Nazi. Now, granted, it's historically accurate, but I just can't imagine him as a Nazi. At all. Or, Russia as a Soviet soldier. Okay, never mind, that one's easy to see
