It depends what kind of dragon your looking to create and how many points you should apply to create that dragon. There are farmers, healers, mages, glasscanons... and even then some are only specialized for certain areas like Mire.

I always make sure my melee fighters are fairly even in everything that's not the physical attack stat or the magic attack stat. I put no points into the magic attack and put at least three times as many points into the melee attack as the other ones.
Does that make sense? I don't know what they're called. XD
Like 15 attack while health, crit, and turns are 5.
My dragons never need healed and can typically go 4-6 rounds before I have to duck out. Not too long a run, honestly, but they hit hard, turn frequently, and have real good defense. The only problems I have is the fact I've a wind and a plague running in the kelp beds and golem workshop, where fire and ice are most prevalent...
