Haven't been able to get on much on the last few days, and I missed my newest girl growing up. Her dress up turned out massively different to what I had planned... but she seemed to have a mind of her own. ID

As for the Coatl thing... I am going to have to agree with the general consensus here. I've always seen it as a base instinct of species preservation sort of thing over racism.

Although if we are judging Coatls for their behavior, I feel like Pearlcatchers should definitely be scorned even more. At least Coatls assume it's illness. Pearlcatchers just see them as inferior beings without an identity that need to resort to consorting with "lesser" dragon species. XD

Roseblossom seems a bit vibrant, I think she has bright enough plumage to stay. But then again, I'm not a coatl.

But once again, quote the Encyclopedia,

"Coatl dragons are mid-sized breed with serpentine characteristics and beautiful, vibrant plumage."

"An unhealthy coatl can be identified by fading plumage. Dull colors are regarded by other coatl with sorrow and trepidation. Coatl who are naturally born grey or white are regarded as bad omens, and often exiled from nests to protect the rest of the clutch from catching illness or ill luck."

Thats up to you. Your lore could be different.
Such as, Ridgebacks are said to be straight up thieves. (just worded nicely) None of my Snoots are.

You can choose to adapt to the basic lore behind all dragons, but the game leaves it pretty open to you to decide if you choose to follow that lore or not.

This is really quite an interesting conversation. Since these are fictional animals, we can't really say that their behavior is primarily based upon instinct or unfair prejudice. No, dragons aren't humans, but Flight Rising dragons also wear clothing, use tools, and even practice forms of religion where their deities are concerned, unlike natural animals. So, it isn't a stretch to argue that they could also have morals and such similarly to a human being. Now, I'm not saying that Coatls are horrible. In fact, Coatls are my absolute favorite species and I adore them to bits. However, Saphira has brought an interesting topic that can't really be brushed aside with an explanation of simple animal instinct. ^^;

Haha Trill is my lairs father figure, i never really mentioned if he borrows or not. I think if he did the clan would understand.

Maybe dragons raised by other breeds act differntly.

WAIT if nocs mimic other dragons and one was around coalts... would it be the same?

While I do agree with dragons on FR having human like behavior, the fact that Coatl even go as far as migrating back to where they were born to hatch their young due to instinct has always made me see them in particular as a bit more animalistic than the rest.

Most coatl are tightly bound to the Flamecaller's forge, as coatl feel an instinctive drive to return to Emberglow hearth to raise their nests. This desire to brood in sweltering temperatures sees most coatl growing up with fire as the calling of the hatchling's magic. It takes a strong will for adult dragons to resist the urge to return "home" during mating season.

Adding to that the fact that they have a native tongue which seems to be rare just adds to the somewhat more animalistic view I've gotten in regards to them over the years.

Please note, I'm not disagreeing or agreeing here. Just adding my two cents to the topic. =)

I have spent way to much time in the animal sciences, and I'm looking at this strictly from that point of view. Birds will naturally segregate sick, which as previously stated is often found by dull plumage, sure some species take care of the sick and some leave them to die. Each is a trait of the breeds.

To put it in human terms, as I believe all animals are intelligent thinking creatures, we often keep ourselves away from those who have a cough, sneeze and look generally sick. That is self preservation. Illness spreads like wildfire in closed cramped quarters. And just like you can create a coatl that stands out there are people and animals who ignore the innate behaviour to protect their own person from illness by avoidance.

It's saying they are jerks for behavior that is natural to their species is what I find issue with.

Yeah, it wasn't intentional to start this conversation about Coatls and dragons being like Humans. It just started with saying how I didn't know that Coatls bleached to white when deathly sick.
