Here is a written list of steps to explain it:
1: If you want a gift war, you post on the discussion thread saying so. You can be as specific as you want to be. Requesting for an "item war" or an "uncommon war," will result in a gift war only consisting of that those things.
2: Your opponent will see your post and PM YOU, saying that they are interested. Its very important that you don't accept gift wars on the thread, its considered spam.
3: You find your opponent and send them the starting suggestion (trade), which includes a gift from you.
4: Your opponent edits the suggestion, adding a higher value of pets, items or C$ to their side, leaving your pets on your side. They return it as a suggestion.
5: You edit the suggestion and add more pets to your own side, to make it of a higher value than your opponents.
6: You repeat this until somebody gives up, meaning they can't or unwilling to add more to beat your gift. Then you exchange gifts by accepting the trade, meaning both players get a gift in this situation!
Under no circumstances are you to touch your opponent's side of the gift war.
