i did a goof and accidentally sent a DM when someone's lights were off.. i dont think deleting the DM will delete the message from their side, huh?

if you delete it (before they see it) it will show them that you sent a message, however they won't be able to read what it said. i would recommend just editing the message (only possible if they haven't seen it yet) to let them know it was a mistake and to disregard it, because seeing a deleted message tends to just be more confusing. if they've already opened it (and you therefore can't edit it) you could either just leave it be or message them again to explain

Yeah its fine to just edit/delete a PM if you realize after that their lights were off. It happens a lot to me cause I'm first on the list so I'm very used to it and don't mind at all when it happens lol. Though yeah if you delete they won't be able to see any part of the PM (including the title), a PM will still show up in their inbox but will just say its a deleted message and all they can do with it is delete it on their end too. So they won't know what the PM was if you delete it, and editing is the better option if you want to do what to explain real quick that it was a mistake.

(though fun fact, if a PM that was deleted had been sorted into a specific folder by your inbox rules it will still show up in that folder after being deleted, so my inbox rule set to sort messages with 'trick or treat' in the title to a certain folder means most of those deleted PMs I get during LOLO end up in there and that makes it more obvious what they had been before being deleted)

Having a LOLO folder is such a good idea! Definitely going to do that myself <3

Yeah speaking of editing messages, I was so glad to find out messages are editable before they're opened. I didn't fully copy my page and I left out my Trick or Treater!! 😱 But luckily I got to add him into the few messages I sent before I noticed, lmao.

It's always funny when you receive a dm missing info though, because it's usually a mistake and they try to fix it, but it can have some humorous outcomes! Years ago I got a message where they accidentally sent their first draft/brainstorm instead of their final and it had 3 different starts.it read like this -

Margret awoke to the sounds of trick-or-treaters. She was so excited to wear her costume, a bunny suit! Margret woke up from her nap, ready to hit the streets in her bunny costume! Margret awoke with the rising moon, her disguise as a harmless bunny was already set aside for her night's escapades!

I had a laugh, and I’m never bothered by mistakes in the dms. BUT, I always panic when I make the mistake, lol

Curious as to when people are turning their lights on and off! I've personally been putting mine on just before I go to bed, leaving it on whilst I'm at work for the day, and then turning them back off once I'm home and ready to answer any messages

But has anyone found a different schedule that works better for them? Do you prefer turning them on when you're free, and then answering any messages as they filter in?
