I heard somewhere that in the VERY FIRST episode the doctor was played by a female actress... Is this true?

Nope. The first Doctor was William Hartnell. :3 Though, he did have a granddaughter named Susan, or Arkytior. It is possible for Timelords to change genders during regeneration, though.

Personally, I don't want to sound sexist, I am a girl myself, but I don't think a female doctor would work well. It just doesn't seem right, I am sorry. I don't really know how that would work, there would surely be a lot of controversy if Steven/Mark decided to get one. My favorite is the tenth. Second is the eleventh. Gawd...

Tbh, I think a female doctor would be nice as a spoof, you know, like Wholock. I wouldn't actually want it as a real series, like I said before, it just doesn't seem right...

I used to think that Time Lords/Ladies couldn't regenerate to be the opposite sex, but I've re-watching some episodes, and there was something about a TimeLord the Doctor knew that was a woman a couple f times.

or something. I can't remember on which episode or occasion. Eleven, I think.

I think a female doctor would be strange, especially since the companions usually meet up with the doctor later in his life- like with Rose, who has know him through 2 regenerations and seen him late 10. It would also be weird since almost every female companion has had a snog with him ;w;
no offense to any women--who-changed-to-a-man/men-who-changed-to-a-woman, but I think the companions would freak out if they release the kissed a heshe...
