ok guys but like imagine
theyre on an alien planet and there's a lot of waterholes, and team voltron is scouting the area with their shields up, on guard.
then they hear this loud groan and they instantly activate their bayards, approaching the area with caution.
they push back a few space plants...

...and find a waterhole filled with space hippos.

and they all just state at them.
and then one of them (besides keith) says "well. just a bunch of space hippos. let's move on." and they all start to walk away, but as soon as they turn, keith snaps out of his trance and he runs to the space hippos and jumps into the waterhole and just sits there because oh my god, space hippos and yeah, hippos are dangerous, territorial creatures but these are SPACE hippos so hopefully they're nice?? maybe???? (curse his impulsiveness)
and a grown hippo comes over to him, opens its mouth and groans, but doesn't make any attempt to hurt keith and keith happily strokes its nose.
and then a small baby comes over and stands in front of him and he just strokes it's head while looking around in wonder, his paladin suit soaking wet.

and the rest of team is watching in both shock and awe because is this the same loner keith that's always so grumpy on the castle ship?
