Also, there was a news that Meltan will be back in the Mystery Box since today to 5th May and that players will be able to open Mystery Box once every three days. The last time there was an event like that, the "one every three days opening" didn't work for me. I wonder if I did something wrong and it didn't activate?

not sure wich part didnt work but, if you opened it before event (eg the day before) the 7 days would still be applyed the 3 only applyed once the event was on

Gone for good, you lose the pokeball if you miss or if the Pokemon breaks free of the ball.

You have to have a Switch and either Let's Go: Pikachu or Let's Go: Eevee to get Meltan for Pokemon Go.

No you can get one through research. You need those games to attract more and evolve it.

Hmmm, I thought you can only get the Mystery Box from Let's Go: Pikachu/Eevee. Oh well, you can tell I don't really know things like that.

Also I got invited to my first Ex-Raid, but I am on vaction, and I won't be where I am now to do it when the third of May comes around.

Research Breakthroughs

• Lugia, Ho-Oh, Latias, and Latios will be Research Breakthrough encounters starting May 1, 2019, at 1 p.m. PDT (GMT −7) through the end of June.

Eggs

• Different Pokémon will hatch from Eggs starting Apr. 26, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. PDT (GMT −7)
• Trainers can expect 2 km Eggs to hatch Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup, Bonsly, and many more.
• Trainers can expect 5 km Eggs to hatch Cubone, Combee, Buizel, Glameow, Bronzor, Skorupi, Croagunk, and many more.
• Trainers can expect 10 km Eggs to hatch Mawile, Absol, Shinx, Cranidos, Shieldon, Riolu, and many more.

Time to head outside and see what amazing Pokémon you’ll encounter! Let’s GO!

I'm so glad that those of us who don't/can't do legendary raids will not be missing out on Latias and Latios, I'm especially looking forward to the latter.

This right here is a misunderstanding.
gemini_girl was taling about Meltan in general - there is a special research task to get a Meltan in the end (just like Mew or Celebi).

But the mystery box can only be obtained by trading one Pokemon to either of the Let's Go versions.

You don't even need to own a Switch yourself - if just one of your friends or family members has one, then any account can connect to the Switch.
