I see your point, yet what if a Garnet was an actual gem on homeworld (Not a fusion) Yet looked different to the canon Garnet in the show, like, instead of being tall and.. thick.. it was umm, sharp, maybe a bit more feminine?
Because 2 gems fusing was a fairly new point in homeworld, who knows where the name would come from?
I don't really think Ruby & Sapphire had a name for their fusion the first 2 times they fused, because it was ''the first time 2 different gems fused'' unless they fuse and they instinctively have a name for their fusion, since if 2 rubies fused it would just be "Ruby".
So if we made a non-fusion Garnet, would it fall under fair-use?
I'm sorry if this didn't make any sense XD
