I know that everybody can do that if they please... it's just... I've a list of members of LOLO that I've sent a PM to. After a few days (6-7), if they didn't respond by then, I search their name to write a new PM. But that's just not working if people change their usernames... and I don't write down their numbers on the list because I don't always go by the list. And most times the PM I sent is also gone from my sent-messages-folder, so I can't even find out their new name
Also there are a few people (maybe about 5) that I've now sent my ToT-PM three times to without any reply. Lights on, have been online... no offence but if I couldn't keep up with the trick-or-treaters I would turn my lights off

You could start listing their ID number as well as their name, and if you can't find them by their name, search their ID number instead.

Celozon beat me to it... was going to say they have an explanation about using their id numbers on the main thread.

My sister is actually using the numbers as her list and marking off/erasing the numbers as she asks them. I wish I would have thought about that before I went through the trouble of using an image of the list to mark off everything.

Slowly, the door opens up with a soft creak and you find... Narnia?!
You look inside. To your surprise what you see is not the inside of a normal house, but a vast landscape with fresh, white snow covering the grounds and cloudless sky with a winter sun shining high above. You can feel a chilly breeze on your face.
There are little ducklings having a snowball fight. They notice you and throw some snowballs at you with quacky laughs. You quickly shut the door and hear three wet splashes of snow hitting the hard wooden door. Those are not the treats you are looking for.

Maybe you'll have more luck at the next house?

Image

You wait for the door to open, hoping to get your tasty treat. Nothing happens. After looking at the door for a couple more seconds you decide to ring the doorbell. As soon as your hand touches it, you hear a loud mechanical noise and the floor beneath your feet collapses. You fall down and start sliding on your back, a long way full of twists and turns like in the best of amusement parks. The slide ends abruptly and you fall into a heap of fresh autumn leaves, which scatter around you and slowly fall back to the ground.

The ride was fun, but it looks like you've been tricked!
Maybe you'll have better luck at the next house.

I love the Narnia one so much!! It's so cute and creative! I wouldn't even mind getting a trick like that! :D

One of the strangest replies I've had is from a person who has catastrophically misunderstood the game, I think. They replied to my trick-or-treat message with the word "Treat!"

Now, I just assumed that they would send the trade later. But no, nothing. I sent her a message, (feeling a little weird about it, it seems kind of greedy, being all 'I want a treat, gimme!'), and she was shocked that I expected her to actually give me something!

She said, "Oh really? What exactly do you think I should have to give you?"

So I explained how people, including myself, give out pets, items, or even artwork we've made ourselves, and that if she didn't want to do that, she could just tell me it was a trick instead. I think she honestly thought that the point of the game was just to reply with the word 'trick' or 'treat'!

She ignored my reply. This was days ago, and I was just going to forget about it, but she replied today!

    No words, just this: Image

 I guess I got some candy after all!

This person is breaking the rules. Be sure to report them to a main thread mod.

See if they were ever actually accepted, because it sounds like they aren't really playing.
I used to love this site. I was very active, helped around with LO/LO, and engaged in the adopt communities. I found myself losing interest and seeing more toxicity on here and from people here over on other websites. I don't find myself on here anymore and I doubt I'll come back. To my friends: I miss you. I hope you're well. Hopefully 2020 gets better for us. See you on the other side.

One thing that bugs me is when I send people a really good wishlist pet or a rare/uncommon from 2011(like I usually do) and then after I ask them they just reply with trick... Makes me a bit upset that they can't even put more than a word into it when I gave them something that most people would really like. I understand if not everyone can gift people but I hate one word responses... they didn't even say thank you in the trade message :(

I'm sorry that happened to you. :( That would really bother me too! I just try to remind myself that most people are really nice and awesome. Maybe you could try sending them a PM to politely explain how you feel? They might not even realize that how disappointing that can be when you take the time to send a nice treat. I actually PM'ed one person who didn't include a message when they accepted my treat, in the hope that it would encourage them to send a message the next time that someone gifted them. I was very nice about it and I didn't get mad at them or tell them they were rude, or anything like that. I just said that I hoped that they liked their treat, and I wasn't sure since there was no message. I then explained how a lot of people playing LOLO have been sad and disappointed when they take the time to send a gift (even if it's just a very small gift) and the person receiving it doesn't respond. I suggested that leaving a message in the future would make a lot of people happy, and it would let the gifter know that their treat was appreciated. :) The person didn't respond, which is okay. I'm just really hoping that next time they'll think to leave a message so that people who gift them in the future won't be disappointed.

That's a good idea, I might do that if I can remember who it was. I delete all the one word trick messages so I'd have to look through my trades to find it. I'm not sure it's worth the hassle though *shrugs* Thanks for the advice!

Look at the awesome art I just got! It's from horselover0726 :D

The art's adorable! Congrats on it, Marbles.

I've been fortunate to not have people trick me after I treat them ... but I've also been fortunate enough to have people who trick me try to ToT me right after. It's only happened like, six times, but each one is a trick right back!

Otherwise, I just give them pets.
