I saw this on the main thread, and I was wondering what people's opinions were. Do you trick people if they trick-or-treat from you and they have their lights off?

Personally, I only trick people for having their lights off if I see them around a lot and they never seem to turn their lights on. But if I'm not sure, or if I know they've had their lights on in the past, then I send a treat. I know not everyone can have their lights on all the time (I turn mine off on the weekends) and it doesn't bother me at all if someone's lights are off when they visit me. I think that I got a few tricks over the weekend because my lights were off, even though my lights were on when I sent the PMs.

I generally don't think to notice it.
However, there have been a few times when I did, and it always seemed to be people I see around quite often. I've noticed a handful of people who seem to keep their lights off for the vast majority of time and just collect treats, which is mildly outrageous to me.
I understand if you can't be giving out treats all the time, but to not try to give back at all and only collect rewards bothers me to no end. I feel no shame in tricking people like that.

Then again, I don't think it's fair to judge people like that unless you're pretty well sure, and I am sorry that happened to you

I don't usually notice either, but every now and then there's someone who I see around a lot, and I can't help but note that they never ever seem to have their lights on. So far this year I've only had one person trick-or-treat from me where I think they just never turn on their lights, but I've interacted with them before and they seem nice, so I still sent them a treat. I just sent them something small.

i don't typically look at it. i know that some users don't have much to give out, use mobile a lot, or have other reasons for keeping them off a lot. i like to give people the benefit of the doubt that they have them on sometimes. c:

britneyrox pretty much summed up my feelings about it. Though I know my personal situation is a bit different from most people, I always end up bombarded when I have my lights on, so I only have them on when I actually have to time to respond.

Though, I think for the most part, keeping a tally in your signature would probably help keep people from tricking you for currently having your lights of, cause it does show that you have been giving out treats. Though I guess technically people could just fake numbers in their sig, honestly I don't think that people just looking for free stuff would even put in that much effort. I'd like to think that even if you do have your lights off, having that tally in your sig could still get you a treat from people who normally trick those with their lights off.

I've been putting off answering trick-or-treaters, and now I have at least 10 people I've got to answer...
I should be able to get to them all tonight though. Because of the storm, school's out tommorrow too so i'll have plenty of time to sort, update my lists, and see if I can fit a chart or treats and tricks given in my signature.
this game is so fun, but because I hate to turn off my lights it's causing a bit of work to pile up for me. ^^;

So, is anyone else keeping their list of people they can trick-or-treat from in alphabetical order? For me it helps both ways, whether I want to go by the list or by people's signatures. I think I'm going to stop updating my list until I get it down to about 100 people though.
