What is your opinion of closed species?

i actually have my own, tho they've not really been introduced anywhere aside from like... 3 of my friends [and one of their siblings]. so that's not even all of my friends tbh oops
i actually find them sUPER FUN to develop ?? like their biology, culture.... man it's just cool. like i literally cannot describe how fun it is to develop closed species ? [i actually should probably make a species sheet for my species even tho theyre not really shared w/ the public oops]
like tbh i probably wont ever make them into adopts that i would give away purely bc i like having the species being a lot more personal [as well as being able to decide new things without loads of people yelling at me if i do something they don't like tbh]

tho aside from my own species, im not too fond of closed species ?? i never connect w/ them that well [i mainly connect to my own designs, primarily], and some communities just don't seem extremely nice from what I've seen uvu closed species usually have loads of rules, which can restrict on how to use an oc tbh ??
i just idk it doesn't really appeal to me v much

Who do you believe to be your coolest or best-liked (by others) characters?

obviously my sonas are the coolest that was a lie
tbh im not entirely sure. i think my sonas and fanstuck are the most liked by others ??

Hey so um about the question Wesley asked about Closed Species, I have been reading others' remarks and I just wanted to give a bit further of an explanation on my opinion of them.
Everyone sees differently, I understand, some people collect and use characters to simply use them as characters, others want to make friends and join communities. I think this is the real reason why closed species exist, to create great communities where people feel safe and comfortable and enjoyed by others. The species that I have tried to join that I have bought characters from and won some and such either are purely for the characters individually, or the owner is trying to make a profit. Those kinds of species I tend to not work well in, and I won't name any specifically here. But the ones that do well are the species that focus on, yes, character individuality and development, but also a great, kind and welcoming community where everyone looks out for eachother.
These are the species where people come together as people sharing an interest in a specific creature concept, and work together to develop their characters and become great, close friends. It is awesome when the owners of said species are able to make a decent profit off of them, because if a species owner isn't able to profit on the vast amount of time they spend putting into the species, and sometimes the grand amount of money they put in also, then they will have to stop putting so much into it, and the species as a whole dies down.

Just wanted to get this out there, maybe re-open some minds to the idea of closed species because I really think that, though there are some bad eggs out there, there are also some pretty great ones.

What is your opinion of closed species?
I actually don't mind the idea of closed species. it protects ideas that are original and unique. it also allows for people to have a unique species to ship/mate with others of their kind (since for some reason, the thought of two characters that aren't the same species being in a relationship is completely unheard of?) what is a bit bothersome is when a closed species i pretty much the least original thing on the face of the earth. (ie a dog with a really long tail that is otherwise just a normal dog). mainly because its not really a closed species. its more like, idk, a closed trait? not to mention the fact that 90% of species around are pretty much just knock offs of the more popular ones. i cannot telly you how many knock of kias i have seen.

im actually more into personal closed species. like, closed species that are only shared among friends or something like that. i think that's really cute and i'd love to do that but i don't have enough friends oops. and the friends i do have don't talk to each other as far as i know OTL
