So I just started watching Black Butler recently and I know I've seen a few Grell dragons but that got me thinking -

no i totally don't
I generally go by how the character looks - I think I pick secondaries based on hair colour; unless there's a trio of colours that the character is kinda known by.

Skydancers are my go-to breed for fandergs. And I try to choose the genes to look good with the dragon.

My whole lair is oc dragons and fandom dragons, dear.

For me it depends on the personality, mostly it is iri/shim but if they have a brute personality it is tiger, a silly one, clown and if they just need to look pretty iri

Dr. Who. ( Colors resemble his usual brown hair, bright eyes.)

Tardis from Dr.Who. ( Colors of blues for the blue box and circuit for her machinery. Accent for time/space)

Crota a raid boss from Destiny the game! Colors are like the glowing green energy and crystals of the hive.

Aslan, from chronicles of narnia. I origionally bought him just because he was a cheap triple gene first gen, but he became my Aslan.


Roman, hemlock grove. Wildclaw seemed to fit him best.

psshh. No. Why would I do that?

Well, about half of my lair is fandom dragons or ocs. At least the dragons I like mostly are.

As far as breed and genes go, i generally compare the characters personal features to other characters that you could create and look at what dragons look best. But their personalities also come in hand. For example (i had this conversation with the person who gave me this dragon), my houndoom. Though a pearlcatcher would suit a houndoom more in appearance, Ridgebacks are fierce like houndooms where as pearlcatchers are thought as cowardly.
