it takes a few episodes to get into but the comedy is decent and the characters are just so lovely. i had no interest in farming at all but silver spoon is at the very top of my lists. it made me laugh, cry and every episode had me grinning. it's a feel-good anime.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.
That sounds like a fun anime! But are the characters humans or animals? And how is it "heavy"?
The characters are human, but since it's at an agricultural school and all of the 'topics' are farming related there is a whole lotta animals. In the first season you're introduced to a piglet they name 'Pork Bowl' so Hachiken won't get attatched to it. Pork Bowl is the most adorable little thing.
I'd say most episodes aren't that heavy. A good quarter of the show is heavy though. It usually does it when it's dealing with heavy subjects. Like when they constantly talk about how pigs are breeded only to go off for slaughter. Or sports horses are killed for meat if they don't win enough. And they go into some dramatic scenes with the main character and some of the sub characters quite often. It balances out the heavy moments and the happy moments well. A slice of life show would be horrible if it was just drama all the time anyway. With no plot progression and characters you care about it would just be depressing to watch every episode. Silver Spoon always recovers from its drama though.
IT'S JUST SO GOOD.
