I also like to think that this particular pairing is semi-canon as we have already seen Germany “confessing” to Veneziano Italy by proposing to him because that was what he thought you were supposed to do when you like somebody/bring them on a date. In contrast to this, you could also say it was probably just because Germany was confused, mistaking Veneziano's gift of roses (red roses, which are a symbol of romance, especially when given on Valentine's Day) as a declaration of his feelings (which it canonically wasn't, he just wanted to give his friend something). Who knows what's going up happen. We'll just have to see //shrugs.
I, PERSONALLY, ship GerIta v v much because I love them a lot and I think they're cute. But, okay.
