I'm really excited for the rp now! This is gonna be so much fun!

Now a little off topic:
I just want to make sure I'm not going crazy, but is -wing a traditional warrior cat suffix? There's a ton of cats in the books with that suffix, but I have have someone that won't accept a character for a warrior cat roleplay because they say -wing is not a traditional suffix because cats don't have wings. I know this doesn't have anything to do with WCA, but I figured this was a good place to ask since you all have knowledge on the subject.

Wing is more then acceptable as a suffix. Just because cats don't have wings, doesn't mean they can't have that suffix. The suffix of the name doesn't have to do with the cat. Like, Firestorm and Sandstorm. Does a cat honestly know what a sandstorm is? Can cats make storms with their bodies? No, they can't. But the suffix is acceptable. Same with -wing. C:

-wing isn't a traditional suffix, but a lot of the names in the books aren't strictly traditional. If we're going by tradition, there's only twenty suffixes to choose from.

Also, about Sandstorm; if we look at it traditionally again, the prefix and the suffix don't correlate. So a cat called Sandstorm would just be a yellow/cream cat with a changeable and intense personality.

Wing could mean soft or light peronality. And if true warrior names have it does it make it an incorrect name?

What if the cat is the light grey color of a dove wing, or it has a white marking in the shape of a wing.

You guys are so good at helping me know I'm not going crazy. You as well Lady Masquerade. XD I don't really see what people call traditional suffixes and prefixes, because one would think traditional is anything that has appeared in the books themselves since that is the only possible place for it to come from. But, if it is going by ancient cats, then -moon and -wing are both traditional. I've got no idea. And I've always heard -wing as being used to describe agility.

This is considered advertisement and it is against the rules. It's off topic and considered spam. I have already warned you before to stop posting about it on the WCA threads.

Soft or light personality is traditionally denoted by either -cloud or -flower, depending on whether the cat is just generally calm, or if they're particularly good with kits. And of course it doesn't make it an incorrect name; no names are incorrect! One can call Warrior Cats by whatever names one desires. It just doesn't necessarily make it traditional.

As for if the cat is light grey or has odd markings, then Wing- would be a prefix.

In the Fandom, Traditionalism in naming refers to:

ailuronymy wrote:Traditionalism is a spectrum of naming systems, which means that no two systems are exactly alike. Everyone has their own opinions and preferences, even within traditionalism, and that’s totally okay! However, all traditional systems almost inevitably share certain features. Some of those features include the following:

  • prefixes are used solely for representing a cat’s appearance (pelt colour and/or body size).
  • suffixes are used to acknowledge a positive skill or personality trait of the cat.
  • name-change names are given respectfully as acknowledgement of strength and survival abilities.
  • suffixes are based around the first arc of canon.
  • realistic or near-realistic settings are preferred and prefixes are typically chosen in regards to the likelihood of being within the particular setting.
  • typically cats do not have magical abilities or have only limited magical ability (such as leaders having nine ‘lives’).
  • an emphasis on developing clan culture and world-building within the setting.
  • all clan names have meaning and the naming system exists to distinguish each cat and aid in developing a healthy sense of identity, both personal and community.

These features tend to be a consistent theme in all approaches to traditionalism, although there are various interpretations.
...
However, traditionalism is not the only type of naming system around. There are plenty of others out there! To help distinguish between traditionalism and other varieties of system, everything that isn’t traditional is simply referred to as ‘non-traditional’. Naming systems that prioritise sound (flow) instead of structured meaning are often called ‘lyrical’.
