Do you ever feel like the judge of a competition you entered was biased, or chose their friend? Even though it wasn't the best form?i dont often enter try out competitions or anything like that since i dont usually want to spend time/money developing a character im not sure im going to get but im sure that sometimes these contests are biased a bit.

What do you think makes a good character form? (for tryout competitions)
What do you think makes a good character form? (for tryout competitions)I want to know what you guys think because i'm going to be honest, i often see a lot of people running around saying 'oh, i got all this tryout art and wrote all these paragraphs and put all these graphics and this other person still won and they didn't even have and art and blah blah whatever'. then i read their form and i'm just like, ??? no wonder the other person won?? half of this stuff isn't even relevant?
okay, i'm not expert form writer and my forms are FAR from perfect but i have judged forms and i'll tell you, your form may be super pretty and have 20 pieces of art and 18 paragraphs but if what is actually IN the form is garbage then i don't care. you don't get the character. sorry that sounds harsh but though presentation is important, we're not supposed to be judging you on how organized you can be or how pretty you can decorate. we need to judge you on the
actual character development. if you have zero pieces of art and you form is basic but the information in it is relevant, interesting, and over all well thought out then you should be much more likely to get that character!
some people get very upset when they buy all this tryout art and lose to someone with less then them and complain that they
had to spend all this money and stuff but in reality, there is a 80% chance that you were not required to get art. when someone says "impress me" that doesn't always need to be with art. though a lot of the time it is with art, i've seen some very very impressive character development just from looking though your character sites. you all have beautifully developed characters and that what i
really like to see in forms.
of course, there is absolutely nothing wrong with getting art when its not required and making your forms pretty! pretty forms are always nicer to look at and easier to navigate. but just be aware that its not those things alone that should be getting you the character you fell in love with. so to conclude my rant, i think that an effective form should contain:
-Good well thought out and unique character development
-Obvious effort
-Straight, to the point and organized information
-optional art/decorationsorry about this super long post/rant guys. it looks like a forth grade essay, i know/-\
