A question for all of you, this is a true story that my uncle heard when he was in jail under a DUI.
A man got in a fight with his girlfriend while cooking breakfast. As they were fighting, his girlfriend took a hot frying pan and slapped him across the face with it. He pushed her away, and is now in jail for 2 months. He has 1-2nd degree burns and bruises from being slapped across the face with a frying pan, yet he's the one going to jail. Do you think this is fair?

But I do NOT believe that in a case with violence, (this is what it seems like) just because she's female, he goes to jail.
I believe in equality, that means we don't pick on either gender.
She should be in jail also, considering she did a lot of the damage.

Absolutely not. I'm sure people who defended this brought up the argument of feminism, but this is completely insane. They were in a verbal argument, I'm not sure what about, and she resorted to physical abuse, but he was punished for attempting to defend himself against her. I'd bet that if he hadn't done something she'd have done much worse. Now, if he had been verbally abusing her over a period of time, and she retaliated, then perhaps I'd understand, but even in that case, she should at least be fined.

No. Whilst I understand it's okay to get angry in a fight, using physical force to express your anger is unacceptable. Though it really depends on what happened in the past, though; maybe he had been abusing her for months and she fought back for once. Then again, maybe she was just doing it because she was in the moment. Still, merely with this snippet of information, I think not.
