My theory in a nutshell.
my theory:
Mike is in a coma. The 1st game is just after he slipped into it... after the Bite of '87. That explains [at least, in my theory] why Foxy doesn't have a jumpscare - he wants to apologize. The others attack you because they DON'T want Foxy helping you. Why the date on the check? Bite of 87, again. The year is crossed out, because the mind has not had enough time to recover from the frontal lobe being bitten off.
Now to the 2nd game. Few days/months later into the coma, 'Mike' comes back as Jeremy Fitzgerald, one of his best childhood friends and possible victim of the Missing Child Incident. In an effort to forget about the old animatronics, he makes up a new crew: the Toy gang, Mangle, BB, and Marionette. Of course, it doesn't work, and the others come out to haunt you. Foxy's jumpscare - him leaping onto you - is a move to cover your body from the others, and to hold you down before he could grab a full Freddy suit - hence the Marionette's 'give life'. Why 'give life'? In the real world, the only words that slip into Mike's mind is 'give' and 'life'.
I'd give more, but I'm typing this on ~6 hours of sleep.
I really like the theories that state Foxy is trying to help you. But I don't like thinking that Mike was the victim of anything, just that he was stuck for a job and took the night shift at Freddy's xD
