I think the hardest thing is to find all relationships your charrie have with others.

Yeah, luckily Greenland has a fairly small history, so it's pretty easy to find hers. The hardest thing with any character is trying to figure out what kind of relationships they have.




*sigh* Fine, fine, I'll type out her bio. Btw, her real name is Laila Pipulak.

Greenland is a large country with a small population of about 57,000. She is currently under Denmark's rule, with his queen as her head of government, but still retains home rule and left the EU in 1985. Though she hates to admit it, she relies on Denmark for protection due to the lack of her own military. But she hardly ever needs it.

Greenland's first inhabitants were Inuit eskimos from Canada. Later, Icelandic and Norwegian vikings settled the southern coast, but were gone by the time Danish monks claimed her for Denmark. She thinks of the Nordics as her brothers, though she is biologically related to America and Canada, and so she feels torn as to which continent she belongs with.

As the Northernmost country (Technically, she's not a country, but whatever) in the world, Greenland has a very cold personality. She hides her emotions from others, but has trouble holding them back when she's alone. When it comes to the Nordics, she feels as though she doesn't quite fit in, but feels lonely when she's not with them. She doesn't want them to know how she really feels, so she pretends they annoy her. Despite this, Greenland secretly enjoys their company and always accepts their invitations to go out to have fun (or cause mischief, because that's what they actually do). On the topic of her brothers, she's on relatively good terms with Canada and likes visiting him, though they sometimes argue over Hans Island. America drives her crazy. She always gets onto him about his air bases, especially after the hydrogen bomb plane crash accident in 1968.

Though she acts like she doesn't care, Greenland is afraid that other countries will never want her. Even when the Germans invaded Denmark in WWII, they didn't care about her. However, when Denmark refused to sell her to America, she wasn't sure whether she'd rather live with America or Denmark, but she enjoyed watching them argue over her.
She is quote good at fishing, but has been trying to expand her profits into natural resources and tourism as well. Her favorite meal consists of suassat and Greenlandic coffee. She wants to have a pet, specifically a seal, but she doesn't want it to be mad at her for eating seal meat.

Well, they did lots of stuff together besides that it could be referring to. But I didn't like that episode anyway. It was too serious.

I don't remember watching that particular episode, but it does seem to hint to that. However, it would be very difficult for Germany to remember Italy from before he met him in WWI because he lost all his childhood memories. There have been hints in the manga and anime that he remembers Chibitalia, but they only come in the forms of dreams, and he thinks the child in his mystery flashbacks are a girl :p so I would have to agree with Immortal. The two do lots of things together, so that might have been what he was referring to. Though, it's not impossible that it was referencing the Germany = HRE theory.

I personally love the serious episodes because that is when we get to see more of the countries' histories and the like ~. Even though the history in Hetalia is off.
