On-topic: I didn't realize this until I read it in a Tumblr post a few days ago...
Al is better at alchemy than Ed.
At one point in Brotherhood, Winry hits Edward with a spanner so hard that his soul comes out of his body. Alphonse grabs it and pushes it back in.
I get that it's one of those anime effects, but still.
