Zeus is so shy and timid. Is there something to help that? I take him out everyday.

Also, he always trys to scramble back to his cage, I try to stop it. Help?

What do you mean by size? There is only one kind of rat, and they are all the same size

Dumbo rats get larger then Fancy rats.. :B

No they don´t, the only difference is the placement of the ears. And dumbo rats are "fancy rats" too. Fancy rat is just another word for pet rat or domesticated rat.

Dumbo rats don't get any larger than non-dumbo rats. In fact, my male dumbo is smaller (as in shorter) than my female non-dumbos. The only look difference is that his ears are more on the sides of his head as opposed to the top.

Do rats come in different sizes? I thought they did. At least at the pet store they come in small, medium, and large. Unless they just sell older rats and calling them larger...

Hmm... I don't know. Hamsters come in dwarf sizes, I know that, but I don't know about that. I know there's different breeds, I get the feeling pet stores use the name "Fancy Rat" as a generic title for the domesticated rats they get and the breeds actually vary. Curious, does anyone know if there are such things as "show rats"? Like ones you take to fairs and get prizes for.

I thought all domesticated rats were fancy/feeder; the difference being feeders were pet store and fancy bred by good breeders going for certain colors and wanting their rats to be pets. I don't know if rats come in different breeds, but I know they come in different colors.

Pick me! I know! They do come in different breeds, I don't know all of them, but I know the ones I had to know for Specialty Animal:

~Long-Evans Hooded rats (they have a black head and a mostly white body with a few tiny black spots here and there)
~Rex (they're hairless rats)
~Standard (they kinda look like the wild ones)

Don't rats come in different sizes? My first rats were called "small fancy rats", and my rescues were a whole lot bigger.

Edit after research: Alright, so from what I can see thusfar, males rats are generally larger than females, there's no difference between feeder rats and fancy rats...so much stuff. Something said that there wasn't such things as different breeds of rats as much as there were different varieties...
