Well, my ratties went to darkvoodoo, their new mommy, today. (:

What I do is I will take away a toy for a day or two, then give it to them again, and they are like "Yay! A new Toy" and its keeps them busy for few days then I switch them out again, always works XD

Also, what kinds of things do all of you give your rats to use as toys?
[The pet stores near me don't carry many things for rodents in the way of toys, so I'm trying to come up with other things to give them to play with. ~]

I have a petsmart right next door, and they have plenty of rat toys, but I also make some or order them online!

Their Fave
Take a tolet paper tube
seal sides with cloth ((Put tissue and treats in it before))
Seal with hair band!
Wa~Lahh! It keeps them busy for hours :3

They just sound like normal old rats. They do lose weight, what food do you give them?
Also HLD/HED is normal.
Please don't PTS, it really just sounds like it is old age.

At The Moment Thay are feed mixed vegies 2 times a day and cummins lab blocks,3 Times A Day.
They get Ensure 3 Times Aweek and Also they Get Some Fish. And Some Times They Get Sunflower Seeds.

BEW(thats Her Name) Just sits there, if you touch her she now screams and The Others Beat her up becaues she just sits there, But She Is My Most soical rat and can be taken away from them.

Jess The Other One Went to the vet Today. I Left her there and they gave her soming and now shes fine.

BEW Will be going to the vet Tomorrow With My Boys For Some Shots So the vet will tell me What he Thinks.

Ohhhhh yes. I've owned rats for 7 years now and have had more than I care to count. No, I do not breed them but I'm guilty of going into a pet store expecting to buy a rat or 2 and ending up bringing home 6. How can you not resist those sweet little faces? Luckily I was able to dedicate one of the spare bedrooms (now dubbed the "Critter Room") to them and their supplies. lol

What shots are they getting?

If she's new, she probably isn't used to handling. I wouldn't split her from her friends. That will make it worse for her.

Our old rats don't really get anything but soft, runny foods. Baby cereals, ceral mushed up into hot milk, biscuit mixed into hot milk, banana milkshake, jars of baby food, custard, things that tempt them.

When my rat, Ellie, got old, thin, and listless, I did a few things to make her more comfortable:

She got an all new, slightly smaller cage to share with her best friend, Suzie. The others were picking on her, and I didn't think Ellie could defend herself. She had plenty of soft bedding, rags, a hammock, house, and other things.

She got a new diet of ground lab blocks mixed with strawberry yogurt, cinnamon oatmeal, mashed up scrambled eggs, bananas, chicken flavored baby food...

Lots of cuddle time. She loved to sleep on my stomach. <3


Doing those things seemed to keep her comfortable and happy during her final year.
