A good way to convince your parents into buying a pet rat is to start out begging for a dog, then a cat, then start asking for a pet rat x3

I will try again to get a rat By using this that never works:

Mum can i get a rat

Mum: No

Dad can I get a rat

Dad: No

But why I will look after it I have £30 That should be about enough for its cage and I will buy it food with my pocket money and clean it out?

Mum & dad: No

): D'awwwww. Poor starfighter. Dx I just skimmed a few books and blabbered on for, like, a week with useless facts about them. "Oh, they can eat tons of different human foods.", "You know, thye're really intelligent and trainable.", "Wow, look they're really clean.", etc. It drove my parents MAD.
Previously iRowdy/OneRowdyNight and all sorts of other things.

LOL that's exactly the tactic that I chose XD I started off obsessing over dogs, and my parents were like NO WAY. So then when I returned to rats (i'd liked them for years before...) they were so happy that I had left the dog idea that they jumped at the chance.

I'm no longer an active member of this community, but I'm always looking to commission art of my dog, Pascal the Pomeranian! ^^ PM me if you're interested in drawing him, and we can discuss payment.

Okay, so are rat nesting boxes the same as rabbit nesting boxes? But smaller, ^^

ugh.. *facedesk* ;-;

Okay, so.. one of the employees at Petco knows us very well.

Well, apparently one of the newest females, a medium PEW (I'm in love with pink eyed whites, as soon as I saw her I wanted to take her right then and there fft :c) had three babies and they, of course can't sell them until the babies are old enough.

Marc called us, and asked if we could take her. Right now it's getting a tad crowded in my rat cage, and their new cage won't be here for a while longer so I can't use their current cage as a temp. home for the mother, so I can't take any of them.

I'm trying to contact friends, and anyone near the Gadsden Alabama area that'd be able to take them, with so far no hope. D;

This mother.. has already eaten one of her babies. I do believe this is her first litter, and she is extremely stressed from being moved so much. she may or may not just eat the remaining babies, and I.. need some advice?

If I DO manage to find a spare cage, and I take them.. how would I go about caring for the two pups?

Shes larger than my rats, excluding Sharkie.. and I'm afraid.. she'd dominate over my newer, smaller rats if I did happen to put her with them after the babies are old enough ;/ I'm already having issues with Shark and Sib lately (they're getting into more and more fights, and Sib has some fur-loss on her face. I mean, they just end up grooming.. but it's worrying me more than usual?).. maybe.. because of how crowded it's getting. I really hope their new cage will be here soon. D8

Haha ^^ It was actually my mum that started to get me interested in rats, I saw them at the pet shop and went 'SQUEEE!' lol all the little baby ratties were huddled in a little corner :3 adorables <3

@ShadiSin, I wouldn't really know what to do in your position but if there's a possibility of fighting for dominance in your rat cage then you may have a problemo /:

I actually have five, all have gotten along just fine until the last two days.

I mean, they DO just end up grooming.. but it just.. sounds so brutal D; maybe I'm worrying Too much.

They come out daily for hours at a time, they're allowed to roam around my room freely when I'm home.

They're only really in their cage for bed time and when I'm not home, really.. ever since Sinnabar and Solace passed Shark has sort of been.. more.. 'eh' with all of the others.

And, slight. update on Sylmar (the PEW mother) and her pups.. I actually do have a spare cage for her, and her two pups. but the guy at Petco said she might be sick (she looks fine to me, doesn't act odd, and even the vet Marc had look at them said they all looked well) so my dad doesn't want to risk any sickness.. which.. upsets me. They're going to be snake food or just plain killed if they don't find a new home D; and. I know I can't.. like. save every rat lul. but in the short time I've been near Sylmar I've grown attached to her :c such a sweet girl.. and I've Always wanted a Pink eyed white, so that certainly doesn't help. I hope I'll be able to find her a new home before her 'time is up', fft.
