Challenge of the Day!(THIS ONE LASTS UNTIL FRIDAYuntil there are at least five entries!)
I'll try to do one every day.
whoever takes part will get an Uncommon pet if they follow the prompt
Tomorrow ill tell you how to improve, and what you did well

Today's challenge!
Take a quote from here(yes they are all from the manga BLEACH. I chose them because they are good and not because of where they came from) and write either a short story or a poem based on it, WITHOUT actually referencing the quote(so you can't use the quote in your work at all). On Friday or Saturday ill have a form with the names if everyone who completed the challenge on it. You will PM me the form with your guesses of which quote they used! Person to get the most right wins a 2010 rare and one headshot from me! My art: http://torakspackbrother.deviantart.com/gallery/
WE REALLY NEED MORE PARTICIPANTS THAN USUAL FOR THIS TO WORK

FORM(S) NEEDED FOR THIS CHALLENGE!

PM this to me!

Code: Select all
PFDC! Here's my quote!
Quote you used:
your quote here
Why you picked it:
(Delete this after reading) I(PFDC) will not be taking part in the guessing game, but I need to know what quotes you used so I can reward a winner properly

Post this here!

Code: Select all
I HAVE COMPELETED THE CHALLENGE!
Completed challenge:

What was easy:

What was hard:

What you learned:

mine:
I HAVE COMPELETED THE CHALLENGE!
Completed challenge:

The battle never won
A fear beyond comprehension
To never know
When it will rear it's head
And decimate dreams
It leaves in its wake
Death and pain
Sorrow
Hate
There is no escaping
The quiet fall of night
Nor the rise of morning
Will let it slumber
It is always there
Never to be forgotten
Avoided
Or loved
It is a thing to be feared

What was easy:
Writing this poem. It's been cooking in my head for awhile!
What was hard:
Not referencing the quote directly
What you learned:

Quotes are called such for a reason. They aren't our words, so we shouldn't use them in writing as often as we do

I HAVE COMPELETED THE CHALLENGE!
Completed challenge:

Royce laid out on the poorly made bench in the open park. It wasn't really much of a park, the grass had long since died, and the pond was dry from the drought, but it was a safe place for their meeting. He stretched out slowly, raising his eyes to the stormy sky. It wasn't quite dark enough to rain just yet, but he estimated that within the next hour, it would probably be pouring.

As he heard the shuffling of her steps in the distance, Royce sat up, and turned to gaze at the woman. They hadn't known each other for long, but even just the mere sight of her tanned skin and black hair sent his heart fluttering.

Amelia sat down softly beside him, and stared at his face for a moment before speaking. "I heard about Riyria's heist last night." She paused, waiting for Royce to respond, but he kept his eyes steady, and his mouth shut. "You have to stop doing such horrible things Royce." Her voice was soft, but not without accusation, and he briefly wondered if it was a good idea responding to her summons.

"Why do you think I was involved?" he responded, trying one last time to play off his guilt. The girl was smart, and he knew he wouldn't fool her, but he couldn't help hoping - praying - that she'd let the matter go.

"Royce," she responded sharply. "Do you take me for a fool? I came here for the truth, not the batch of lies you keep feeding the civilians. I've seen your men carry out your orders. You stole from my household. From my father!"

Sometimes it was too easy to forget that this girl was the daughter of one of the three politicians. Her father was stealing from the people, and he took it upon himself to right those wrongs. He couldn't say that his method of stealing was any better, but it was restoring some of the order in the town. "Amelia." He said her name so softly he thought she might have missed it, but she turned to him, and her clear gray eyes made his stomach churn with anxiety.

There was no winning in this situation. As long as he continued his undercover job, she would never give him the chance to explain, and Royce, as much as he hated it, was hopelessly in love with the girl that should have been his enemy. Now he was going to have to make the hardest choice of his life: turn away the woman his very soul thirsted for and continue his work with Riyria, or give up everything that he'd ever known and let his desires take over.

What was easy: I do reading responses based on quotes on a regular basis, so this concept is relatively easy for me, though I usually write philosophy rather than fiction.

What was hard: Stopping... I tried to contain myself as much as possible, but I could've easily made a complete chapter out of this. Also, compacting the information was a little difficult. I haven't written anything of this story, so my thoughts about what should happen are scattered enough as it is. Jumping into the middle of a scene I haven't planned for is never easy.

What you learned: Hm... I really need to finish up my current story and get working on this one. Oddly enough, writing about the complexity of humanity is no harder than writing fiction based on a quote, which I find rather interesting.

Something random I came up with on the spot.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
You can cut me off from the world.
Close all the windows
And shut all the doors.
You can turn off the lights
And turn off the radio.
But I will keep dancing
To the music that plays on in my head.

Poem for contest. Based on my experiences with my sexuality(except mine was mental and not physical. No one died in my rl ordeal no worries). It had to be about skipping(skipping can be interpreted in any way entrants choose)
Repeating Repeating Repeating History
I can't I can't I can't see the ground
Where is where is where is my sanity?
The record record record is broken
I keep i keep I keep seeing the same image over and over in my head
Of my past life life life
And of my my my happiness
Where did did did it all go?
Now leaves fall fall fall to the ground
Red red red is the earth
Reminds me of blood blood blood of my love
As he he he laid on the ground
Beaten beaten beaten to death
For loving loving loving a man
I'm facing a stone stone stone wall
Listening to a broken broken broken record
As it skips skips skips and repeats
The history history history of love
America America America the free
Unless unless unless you choose to be brave
And be be be who you are
Because because because if you're different
You wear you wear you wear heavy chains

Although the world has gone to h*ll
You know I’ll always wish you well
And if someday, we can unpack
You know that I’ll still have your back

It would appear my late night viewings of the Walking Dead inspires top quality crap.

hi guys. should I write a play, a spy story or a fantasy? help!
I am the girl that people look through when I say something. I am the girl that spends most of her free time reading, writing, or doing other activities that most people wouldn't call normal. I am the girl that people call weird and a freak either behind my back or to my face. I am the girl that doesn't spend all her time on Facebook, or talking to a girlfriend on a cell phone. I am the girl that hasn't been asked out in a year. I am the girl that has stopped to smell the flowers and jump and splash in the rain. BUT I am also the girl who knows and is proud to be who she is, doesn’t care if people call her weird (it's a compliment), who loves reading and writing and doing the things that no one seems to have the time to do any more, who can express herself better with words than actions, who doesn't need a guy to complete her and knows the importance of the little things. 98% of American teens would have a severe emotional breakdown if someone called them a freak. If you're a part of the 2% who would ask the person: "What was your first clue?” Then post this on your wall
