tbh I honestly never got the petra x levi ship at all. I mean they showed literally NO affection to one another except for maybe one or two times. idk why people ship them so hard? x;

Petra was generally a very friendly person who cared for her comrades.
One of the first scenes we get with her has her explaining to Eren that Levi may not be the "perfect hero" people think he is, but her behavior expresses that she personally does not mind this. She seems to have understanding for his attitude, especially given the few things she knows about his past.
She trusts him deeply, and is concerned for his wellbeing (screaming at him to get away from Eren when he accidentally transforms).
Plus, there's the scene upon the SCs return to the walls, where her father reveals that Petra was very happy/proud to be in the Special Ops squad. Translations seem to be a bit iffy; some translate the scene as Petra planning to "devote herself to Levi", which, followed by her father's comment about marriage, implies she had deeper feelings for the Captain. Others simply translate it as her wanting to devote herself to the squad. Either way, it's pretty obvious that Petra at least likes Levi as a person, despite his flaws.
Levi overall does not show a lot of obvious emotions at any point. He's pretty stoic, so you don't usually see him express his feelings. But from what we do see, he is visibly affected by his squad's death. His expressions when he sees the bodies speaks volumes, really (what with the shade of black around his eyes getting darker with every panel/shot). Petra is the one we're shown last (despite Auruo being the last to die), which, in a series of pictures, is often done to put extra spotlight on something, and at that point Levi just stares down at her corpse, his eyes completely blank.
He doesn't cry, he doesn't scream, but he dwells for a moment to take in the fact that his squad died. At the very least, it affirms that he cared for them, including petra.
Then there's his expression upon returning to the walls and being confronted by her father. Now, sure you can interpret it as him simply feeling guilty/broken because his squad is dead and the poor man doesn't even know yet. But it can just as well be interpreted as him being shaken by Petra's death. I mean, shipping in SnK relies on a lot of interpretation.
Levi and Petra are a cute pairing because Petra's gentle and kind nature is such a nice contrast to Levi's perpetually stoic and distanced attitude. It's a very interesting aspect of this ship to imagine Petra breaking his walls (no pun intended).
As I explained in my last Levitra post, it may very well be that Petra can offer Levi a sense of comfort and belonging that he never knew before.
I think Levi would generally enjoy being around petra, because she is pretty pleasant company. She's one of those people who seem easy to talk to, approachable, willing to give you the time of their day, understanding... well you get it.
With any ships involving Levi it's usually important to show what kind of person he is when he's not trying to appear strong and unmoved. What he's like behind that facade.
I can't give you a clear definition of what he's like, because a lot of it is subject of speculation. But what we do know is that Levi is actually very caring and understanding. He's not exactly the one to hug a person to comfort them, but we've canonically seen him comfort people like Eren and Armin, as well as people who aren't even in his squad (I forgot the guy's name. The one who Levi handed Petra's badge pretending it was someone else's.).
He doesn't show it the same way most others would, but he does feel empathy.
He's also pretty damn selfless, putting other people's needs above those of individuals (such as himself). He may come across as harsh, but we don't see him making egoistical decisions.
And I can imagine how Petra might like this type of personality.
Levi may not be openly affectionate with people, but he does have feelings.
The main reason we don't see much interaction between them is because Petra wasn't around for very long. We simply weren't given much of her. In fact, seeing how little screen time she got, the amount of shipping feelings that were given is amazing.
Phew, excuse my rambling :'D
Edit: Oh there's also that nice scene in Ep. 9 where we are introduced to Levi properly. Y'know, the one where a guy gets munched on by a Titan and stabs it in the face.
Levi and Petra are comforting the dying soldier, and after he dies, Petra reassures Levi that the man heard every word, and how he looks peaceful, etc. etc.
Levi hates seeing people die, and Petra, being aware of this, takes the time to comfort him with some kind words.
I really like this scene in general because it is a prime example of why Levi is not the stone-cold bastard some people paint him to be, but I gotta admit, it's also a nice bit of material for Levitra shippers.
