Sooo I did some romantic Levitra last time we discussed her death, but how about some platonic Levitra as well?

Petra was a mostly gentle, kind person. She cared deeply for everybody in her squad, even if they all had flaws and she could see those. She may have scolded Auruo a lot, but she still liked him. She accepted that Levi was an unapproachable clean freak, but she still liked him. She was basically a mix of friend and sister, maybe even a bit of a mother to the whole squad.
(Look how she immediately tried to bond with Eren when they arrived at the quarters! She instantly became friendly with him and started up a conversation, because she noticed he wasn't feeling all that great.)
Now I wonder, since Levi came from the underground slums, and it's pretty much confirmed that he grew up among criminals, becoming one for a period of his life... maybe that's something that drew him to Petra? She was like the mother or sibling he never had, she cared for him and treated him with all the gentleness he likely never experienced in his youth.
This probably works for romantic Levitra as well, but I really like the idea that maybe, just maybe, Levi felt protected by Petra. Not because she was the strongest or fiercest, but because she could give him a sense of comfort that he didn't experience until then.
And having that ripped away from him... I think in a way, losing his squad was a bit like the thing that Mikasa is so afraid of - losing family. Levi might never have had a family in the traditional sense, and I highly doubt that being adopted by Kenny counts as that, but his squad was as close to that as probably possible for him.

At least he still has Eren to care for him. And Hanji and Erwin.
