Well, enough on silly 4chan. Lets talk about the real reason we are on this awesome thread. and that is SnK. :3

Why do you all like the characters you like? As in favourites.

i could go on forever why i like most of the girl charactersss aaa ymir and annie are my favorites and they are just. babes (ymirs dub voice was like YOOO HAY GURL HAY ;D) but i like ymir cause i actually a friend with a personality similar to hers, how she can be mean, but still be nice (telling sasha it was okay to talk in her accent, becoming krista's friend, etc), and how she is in canon in love with another girl, u//v//u represent, my love ymir
AND ANNIE IS MY ACTUAL WIFE SO. shes so strong and i always have space open in my heart for cold-like characters because they need so much love, plus shes gorgeous and i need more people to see this ;o

I wouldn't know; I've been asleep when the whole thing started, and only heard that apparently, in between, it got a bit better again, but not for long.
Besides, I don't have a tumblr account myself, so I don't have a dashboard that could be flooded with spam.
*shrugs* Not even sure if I had heard about the whole thing at all if it weren't for this thread. My homeboards care so little, we didn't even get any gossip.

Oh dear, how do I respond to this without writing a whole novel?

Jean: In the beginning I didn't actually like him that much. He seemed to be the typical guy-who-doesn't-like-the-protagonist-and-therefore-is-mean-to-him (whew, that's a mouthful!). But he got such brilliant character development, from a selfish idiot who only wanted to save his own butt to someone who is being relied on as a leader. Jean started out as an egoist with little concern for anything that didn't affect him personally, but gradually developed a sense of responsibility and duty towards his peers.
Plus, I find his personality to be very endearing; his constant bickering with other people, his honesty, and, yes, his hesitation. He's a character who is very relateable IMO, because you notice how much he's still struggling with the fact that sometimes, you cannot save everyone.

Levi: Maybe I secretly adore characters who pretend not to care for people, when in reality, they care very much? Levi usually comes across as uncaring and cold, but we all know he actually cares deeply for his comrades and wants nothing more than to reduce the unnecessary suffering. As much as he tries to distance himself from everyone, he always has time for th people around him.
I'm a big fan of characters who act as protectors to others (no, don't ask me why I don't particularly like Mikasa, then), especially the ones who don't seem like it at first.
Everyone always sees Levi as the invincible fighter, when he's really just as human as the rest. And that's somehow heartwarming.
Plus, he knows how to kick ass B)

Eren: Oh come on, how am I supposed to keep this short? Boy's got determination beyond measure, is absolutely adorable, and has only the best intentions at heart.
I love the fact that while he tries to fight for the greater good, and wants to help people, he has that monster inside him that he cannot keep at bay. No, not his titan but his personality. It's quite clear that Eren is a bit of a sociopath; it's frighteningly easy for him to dismiss someone's humanity if they don't act in a way he deems "good". He's also so very violent.
I like his character because he is not a conventional hero, he is not invincible or someone we should strive to be like, he's not innocent or soft - but: he still gives people hope, because he knows what he's fighting for.
He's also surprisingly selfless: similar to Levi, he does care about people (at least the ones he sees as people), and all the death and suffering around him pains him.
I really like characters who try to do good deeds despite knowing full well that they are not nearly as good as they wish they could be.

For the character question.
Oh god.. I almost cannot put into words why I love my favourites, but I will attempt to do so. Most have the same reasoning- which is because of their personality and character development.
Usually I don't take a liking to main characters, but Eren made it to my favourites list. Mainly because he doesn't have any outstanding talents, yet he still has the courage and willpower to accomplish his goal. And also rage rage rage. Why that? I find that my true self can relate to that, and it is a very realistic trait. This also goes with Armin, my other favorite (or bae). I really don't get why people hate on him for responding REALISTICLY to the situation he's in. I know if I were in the SNK world, I'd spend more than half my time feeling pissed off like Eren, and most likely using crying as an outlet for my anger. Also, Armin seems like a great friend and would help you no matter what. Nottomentionadorableashell.
Next is Levi, who is probably the first on my favourites list for SNK. I probably won't list every reason here, but I'll try. First, he's seen the definition of hell repeated many times over. Now I'm not saying other characters haven't, but it's the way he deals with it. I mean I am stoic like 95% like him, but I'd probably just emotionally collapse after some time. To summarize that, I find the fact that he pulls through all that bull crap, and still be stable, admirable. Second, hotness. I know that isn't extacty a reason but for me it is. Third, how he actually cares. People, LEVI IS NOT HEARTLESS. Only someone stupid would think that. (Which proves many people are stupid.) anyway, I just love the fact that even though he seems cold and distant, he actually cares a lot. 3D personalites for the win :'D and I have a soft spot for characters that seem aloof and cold yet have a soft side that's just hidden.
Oh and bonus points for the fact that he is somewhat socially awkward, since I can relate to that! XD I'm sure if you are on his good side, he can be a good friend when the time is right. Personally I think he would be less cold if he was put in a totally different dimension (like say.. North America) alright onto Connie.
Connie. This boy is why SNK is even going on still. He just fuels the entire series. XD I mean how can you not like him? I probably would stop following SNK if it weren't for him, Sasha and Hanji. The series would simply be too dark if they weren't in it. Also, he seems like a real good friend which I'd love to have, and so what if he's slow in the head half the time!
As for Sasha, the fact that she actually has a southern accent isjUST PURE PERFECTION OKAY? And how she tries to hide it by talking a certain way is adorable. Again, another comic relief and really a likeable character. Yes, I an aware she isn't just about food, even though it's another trait which makes me like her.
Lastly, Hanji. I've got another soft spot, and it's for the cheery yet somewhat crazy characters. Literally in every anime series, if there is that type of character, they just attract me. Dunno why, ha. She also looks like me- dark, messy hair in a pony tail, and glasses.

That turned out longer than I wanted. Oh well lol.

Hmm I'd be interested in joining, and probably all Levels because I myself am not the best semi lit writer and I'd tater not be tied down our or of a good rp just cause of that.

I would but I wouldn't, see the reason is because I am not as acquainted with the terms that they use. Though I am fairly educated with it. Though I think if I get a good flow going I can write a paragraph or two. Though it all depends.
Also I have to describe my character because I do not have an OC and I suck at drawing humans.

I would love to practise my writing skills, but I haven't managed to post regularly on a roleplay in over 8 years now .-.
I tried a couple of times but somehow I always lose interest.
So I gotta say no, although if I had the muse I totally would say yes ;_;

I might. It depends. I get bored easily, I don't have OCs and probably wont bother with one, and I can only rp like 2 official characters which could be taken before me. But rping is fun though! And all levels, just in case.
