Pet's name: Frith
It seemed the perfect name for a sun bunny, too. ^^ Frith has been one of my favourite names ever since I watched Watership Down, as well as Fritha from the novella 'The Snow Goose', but that's already been claimed by one of my D&D characters as hers. It doesn't particularly suit a badger, anyway, and I'm not quite at the naming stage yet, so I'm not too worried about looking for names at the moment. :3 I am sort of poking at Tevye though, just because it's another name I like, and it feels round and snuffly and down-to-earth, so it's not bad for a badger.

I guess I just though of 'Daemineen' by playing around with the word 'Daemon'. I mixed in the word 'mine', and there you have it.
I though it suited him because he was my daemon, and that's kind of what the name means but mainly it just fit.

Warburton's name popped into my head. Possibly because I had just watched the rather entertaining Warburtons advert where a bunch of bakers where crying over a charred loaf of bread.

But still. It's...exotic. =P

Neo's name came from the word "Neon", since I thought two n's would be unnecessary, so I dropped one!

I'm unhealthily obsessed with neon colors, so that's how I came up with it.

Well, I've come to a dilemma.
One of the Rat experts on TDF PMed me and explained why I was not 'rat material', maybe dormouse, but not rat. She suggested I look more into dormice or into ungulates or even possibly small passerines birds.

Hmmm, it seems I shall be back onto the big search on the big differences and behavior of small deer and look back at those little dormice again. xD

Sorry for the late post. It just took awhile for everything to sink in. I read the new concept of daemons and... I must say... it disturbs me. To think of my daemon as just a figment of my imagination... I mean, I understand that Kayne isn't exactly separate from me. I think of him more as the part of me that I never show the world, the part of me that I keep in my head, afraid to show to the world. We once had a conversation and decided that it was a bit like the concept of yin yang. I'm one half of the circle, and Kayne is the other half, that balances me out. I never knew the other half existed until I learned about daemons. We're joined together like the black and white of the yin yang, one being, but still different from each other. There's been times when Kayne has been all that's held me together... and to lose him, to think of him as only an imaginary friend... well, that would be like losing half of myself.

I guess what I'm trying to ask, is that... is it wrong to think of my daemon this way? As a different part of me rather than a part of my imagination? Am I allowed to think of my daemon in this way and still be considered a daemian?

I don't see anything wrong with it. Honestly, Idris is the same way to me - he's that other side of me, the one that balances out all my traits.

The point of saying 'it's just a figment of imagination' isn't to say "we're all just lalala pretending cause HDM is so cooool" or anything. It's to say "Look, this isn't HDM: my daemon is not some possibly corporeal entity that exists outside of myself." It's recognizing that hey, my dæmon is part of who I am, but this isn't the realm of overfantasizing books and trying to pretend that it's reality (ala, I was a Navi in my past life or I'm a werewolf cause amg Team Jacob!<3).

So when I do say "Idris is just part of my imagination," it means, to me, "Idris is my other-soul-self who I have learned to personify and identify as this entity." That voice of reason would be in my head whether I ignored it completely, just thought of it as me talking to myself, projected him as a little tree pipit, or as a giant three-headed dragon with tiger fur and glowing gems for eyes. I'm not imagining the voice, I'm helping imagine the identity around it.

Sorry to bring up such an old post, but that's how I feel about my Dae, too.

I think it was said before but just in case it wasn't, the 'new concept'* of daemons isn't making your daemon any less 'special' or your bond with them any less close. I'm not even sure what Unpredictable was trying to get at since nothing is 'just' a figment of your imagination, a figment of your imagination is a part of you and is important. The fact that the daemon is something born in your imagination doesn't mean they're not an important part of you, the daemon is as important as you want it to be. Just because they are an imaginary friend, it doesn't make them less important or mean they haven't helped you in your life. People should study the psychology behind imaginary friends or at least not come in here saying how their daemon isn't 'just' an imaginary friend and they're important etc. Yes, they can be, but that doesn't make them not imaginary friends.

*it's not 'new', it's been growing and changing since day one of Kris making TDP.

Orridin....I searched forever to find a name....And I got stuck on Orr. Switched around a couple things and voila! Orridin!

It wouldn't leave my mind even after searching through others.
