Yes indeedy! I really like the new 'quest' direction the show is going in. Plus the s4 premiere had lots of feels.

They where ok but the main 4 where out of character and the whole thing felt like a history lesson to set up for the season.

While it did feel like they were out of character I don't actually see it as being out of character. More like character development, the girls were worried about Twilight's safety and while it may have been displayed in the wrong way. Their intentions were good. Think about it, if Twilight had been gravely injured or even light forbid, killed who would take over Equestria? Surely not Cadence and Shiny they have the crystal empire to watch over after all. Certainly not Discord who knows what chaos he would cause if in charge.

I completely agree with this. We were talking about this on skype yesterday, and I feel that while they may not have had the same reactions as in the past, that's part of their character development and because of a huge change in their lives--their friend is now a princess. So yeah, the dynamic of the friends is going to change a little bit, and the way they're characterized is going to change a little bit too. And I feel like Applejack, especially displays this, and I was thoroughly glad that she seemed to display her element of honesty more by being the one to state the initial concern for Twilight and wish for her to return to Ponyville to stay safe.
