I draw normally without a reference (Actually I have only used like two references before...) and it is usually fine. I just really use references for when I draw a pose facing towards me. That's why almost all my drawings face the sides. Haha. (Well I don't post my drawings a lot... But I'm working in a digital piece of Falrore and Asteria. I'd stream it if I didn't have to use my phone's Internet, but yeah...

Also, It is really hard for me to use anatomy circles to get the basic shape. (Wel for horses anyways) I have to start from the jaw and then go up into the ears and finally the rest of the face an then the neck and body. I'm weird like that.

Go to DA if you can horsy is taking oppinions on making equids more pony like so they can be ridden but they would still keep their heights.
