Plot / SynopsisTwo hundred years ago, mutants were labeled as dangerous beings. The governments of the world feared the uncontrolled power each one possessed. Out of that fear, they separately developed new technologies that would soon rival the power of even the most devastating of mutants. But as the fight dragged on, they soon realized that killing every single one of them one by one was an impossible task. At this point in history, the streets ran red with the blood of humans and mutants alike. Public hangings were held, shootings occurred in the streets, and privacy was just a thing of the past. Phones were tapped, Google searches were monitored, and every single text message was read. It was a bloody war; one now referred to as the Mutant War.
Finally, after many horrible events humans choose to fight back once and for all. Under the pretense of reaching a compromise, the human's governments gave a large cluster of islands to the mutant in the middle of the Pacific ocean. These were for them to live upon under one condition; that they never return to the mainland again. Promptly after the establishments had been made, the islands were bombed.
2.3 billion people vanished in an instant.In the years following, the world was at peace. The mutant outbreak was controlled with a blood test which could discover the mutant gene in newborns. These children were either killed on the spot or sent off to experimentation labs to be turned into specimens or experimental soldiers. But the peace only lasted ten years. Canada, a country once known for its Peacekeepers, declared war on the world. They had secretly developed a biological weapon which spread a highly contagious disease like wildfire. It had been dubbed "The End Virus". With the release of the virus the world population was reduced to near fifteen percent. This war was later named The Final War.
Then suddenly, over a span of twenty years, people began to flock to rumored a ’safe haven.’
One man took the throne in Canada. His charisma and intelligence awed the broken country, and they soon settled on a dictatorship due to this man's pretty words and convincing promises. His ascent to power was very much due to a powerful family known as Merwell. Through their influence, money, and power he was crowned king. Seventy years later he still remains on the throne. He has not aged, and neither have the members of the Merwell family. Though at first these people seemed to be making a utopia for the lost, it was soon discovered that that was not the case at all. Where some saw ruin, they had seen an opportunity to become rulers of a new world.
Ottawa, the capitol of Canada, has turned into a walled city. The walls towering above it are too tall and too thick for a small bomb to merely knock down. No one outside Ottawa can communicate with a person inside, nor can anyone outside Ottawa communicate with anyone else in the world. People cannot enter Ottawa without being air-lifted over the walls for there are no doors or gates in the wall. Underground tunnels allow water to flow into the area, but there are layers of underground caging blocking anyone from leaving or entering via this route. Escape is impossible. Ottawa is impenetrable.
Humans believe themselves safe within Ottawa’s walls, with mutants tested and enslaved everyday, no other place in the world is safer, but at the same time, no place is more dangerous. But something new is happening within Ottawa, an effect from The End Virus has altered the M gene so now the blood test no longer determines mutant from human. With this new information a rebellion like no other is building in the shadows of Ottawa and now those who had been sworn to Mason have also begun to turn against him.
