They actually did shoot that, but PJ decided it was too anti-climatic and replaced Sauron with a troll.

They didn't want Aragorn fighting Sauron because it didn't happen in the book. Also they didn't want to take the heroism away from Frodo.

Yup. He was talking about LotR and The Hobbit. I had brought both over. He shunned me for saying I didn't like books like the one he gave me and I loved to read fantasy books, especially Tolkien's work.

It's quite funny in the LOTR book becaus Sam, Frodo and Pippin were going down the road on Farmer Maggot's Waggon and they can hear hooves, they think its black riders but it's: Merry on a pony!
