I was just reading the above posts and I have to say that yes, my two frogs are ones I've raised myself. I have a pond in my garden, and I decided to take a pair of frogspawn from it. I figured I could at least try and raise them myself, wanting a pet and not being able to afford anymore mice.

I'm impressed they're still alive, and so are my parents. I thought it would be difficult in the winter when they hibernate, and that they may pass away then, but mine never showed any signs of wanting to hibernate at all, which is good. ^^ They'll be a year old in march.

I miss their tadpole stage, they were certainly cute. But it's interesting seeing them grow legs and such.

I raised a pair of frogs too, I miss thekr tadpole stage a lot but they were very cute froglets! I never got to see them as adults though because I had to realese them into the wild because I only had tadpole/aqua frog food so they would have nothing to eat as adults. The other main reason is that they would be to big for their cage as adults. There were a few other reasons (like that my parents didn't want me to keep them) but tuose are the main reasons I had to let them go.

For the first 11 months, I didn't buy any food for them. I just used what I could find in the garden, as this was supposed to be a cheaper pet experiment for me and it's worked so far. As tadpoles, they ate algae, and boiled lettuce I had laying around in the fridge. As froglets, I fed them on aphids, as I found some nice big ones, which were perfect, ants and other tiny bugs. Then when they were big enough, they ate worms I went and dug up. Now they're on mealworms, because it's far too cold to look for worms in the winter. I've spent about £5 on them in a year, so that's not too bad. (:

I honestly don't think I could release mine. They seem to have enough room where they are now, and I let them stretch their legs by letting them swim in the bathtub every now and then. This sounds weird typing it out, but they seem to be very healthy. xD

I would've kept mine but the cage they we're in would not even fit one adult frog. Not to mention two. (I could shove a adult frog in their but their isn't enough room for one to hop around, swim, and stuff. They wouldn't be happy.)
