I have been known to.
If so, I usually I intertwine them with a few other and/or new things to make it not quite as personal and in a way,
an entirely new event

I believe most people who write use real experiences as inspiration.

Do you ever make your character's story based of something that happened to you in real life?
Oh my gosh, of course! A lot of my older characters used to be my fursonas all at the same time, when I had a looser idea of what a fursona was. They each carried a different personality trait or like/dislike of myself. Each one has sort of developed into their own overall personality, though. It's pretty nice, I think.

I do derive my characters' experiences from mine. It's so easy to get their stories from your own memories. It adds a lot more sentimental value, as well.
