Your opinion on adopting characters from adoption agencies? [ie. Pound of Hope, The Agency, Symphony Character Adoption Agency, Break of Dawn, etc.]

I approve of it, they make you actually think out your character, so people who are willing to work for them get them. Not just whoever has the highest bid.

I don't mind. I actually prefer them, since it's easier for me to write a good form than try to dish out rare list pets for characters I like. The only bad thing is that nowadays I can't seem to find any other than Goennecs that ever click, so I rarely try out or even check them anymore.

I have a question~~
Code: Select all
Is there any character you consider scary/grotesque, etc.? If so, what, or who?

To answer that, I haven't seen any really grotesque/scary ones, but there have been some interesting ones, I've seen.

i dont know i have mixed opinions
ive never participated in one but from what ive seen they just make things worse for those who dont win
people put tons of thought into the backstory and life and stuff of the characters so theyre bound to get attached
and if they dont win well

Does anyone have links to the character adoption agencies being discussed? I have visited one or two but they were closed for adoptions so I didn't look at the characters in case I saw something I liked.

Personally, I despise it, but love it at the same time. I feel as though the only adoption agency that it tough enough on the applicants and truly gives out the characters to the homes they deserve is PoH. In my opinion, PoH has been declining a bit recently and it makes me sad. I would love to make my own adoption agency to help solve this, but I feel as though there are so many now that my adoption agency wouldn't even be looked at and even if it were I feel like it just wouldn't be successful.

I also agree with Diesel when it comes to the attachment, but I feel like this is still probably the best method of giving away characters.

The Agency.
Pound of Hope.
Break of Dawn.

I don't have the link to the new SCAA, though.

Solloby, here's a bunch:
The (New) Agency
Symphony Character Adoption Agency
Pound of Hope (currently closed, though)
Silver Lining Adoption Place
Break of Dawn
Second Chance

Your opinion on adopting characters from adoption agencies? [ie. Pound of Hope, The Agency, Symphony Character Adoption Agency, Break of Dawn, etc.]
Editing in my own question. I like them, obviously, as I own the SCAA, co-own SLAP, and have applied at all of the others listed in this question. I think that this way, forcing someone to think out a character's personality and past, you can insure that characters go to the best home possible. Because adopters worked hard on their applications and hopefully have connected with the characters in the process of writing for them, they're more likely to keep the character, or at least improve the time length that the character spends with them. I've learned a lot about characters since getting my first fursona, and if there's one thing that stands out above all other things it is that though fictional, mere pixels, possibly even ridiculous, characters [this means REAL, DEVELOPED characters] must be cared for.

I don't personally like to adopt characters from those places because of all the competition and usually low quality characters. I do think it's a great way to get started with owning characters though as you learn how to give more depth to characters and get attached to them. It's also great for giving up old, loved characters as you know they're most likely going to a loving home instead of being repeatedly sold.
