Not including fursonas, as they are not characters but rather myself represented in animal form and cannot be taken from me (D:<), I'd have to say... Shiver. I haven't used him in a while, but I connect with him really well, so if I could only have one character (aside from my two fursonas) to develop and get art for and what not, I'd say my little Sharkbait. Of course, this answer will probably constantly change as my mood and personality changes as well. ;u; Maipe, Dink, Dancer, and Joseph were all close answers as well.

Most likely Alex, but yet again, he's my fursona.
Like everyone else, if that doesn't count, then i would most likely choose Spindle/Spade.
