The summary of my Niam fanfiction I'm currently writing goes like this:

There's always been something special between the two. A bond, a connection, that they couldn't deny. They had always just considered it a friendship, but one night that all changes. One little accident has changed their relationship forever, and being just friends once again is impossible. So, the two face their feelings and announce to the band one simple thing:

Niam is real.

The band is shocked to find Niall and Liam in a relationship. They've always known them to be close... But they never considered that they were that close. Over time, their relationship deepens into something more serious, and a feeling begins to wash over Harry; He soon realizes that, despite he would have trouble admitting it, he has grown extremely fond of the little blonde Irishman. Fonder than he had ever thought. But Liam, his friend, his practical brother, stands in his way. Angered, Harry sets out to try to break them up, and Liam is the only one who realizes. He tries to explain this to Niall and the rest of the boys, but they don't believe him.

Hatred blooms within the band.

Harry despises Liam for stealing Niall away, and Liam despises Harry for trying to ruin their love. Meanwhile, Louis learns of Harry's growing affection for Niall, and finds himself upset also; He had always been the most important to Harry, and now his life is suddenly focused on somebody else. Harry has no time for him anymore, though Louis had always thought they had their own little thing and nobody else would interfere. That is when he realizes that his brotherly love for Harry runs deeper than that, and that he is quickly losing one of the people who matters most to him. He begins to grow cold towards Niall, and tries to convince Harry that Niall is bad, and that he should not seek after him anymore. Harry becomes angry at Louis, saying that he has no reason to talk about Niall that way, and when Niall hears about what Louis had said, he becomes upset and cold towards Louis in return.

The band is broken apart.

The brothers are in turmoil; They refuse to speak to one another, and refuse to perform together, much less even be near each other. It's complete chaos, and One Direction is no more. Zayn, however, is left in the middle of this; He's torn between the four brothers he's grown to love, and each one asks him to take a different side. He's stuck in the middle, trying to repair a broken band and mend broken brothers.
