I brainstormed! And...
We all thought it was harmless fun. And it was at first.
The first time the Introflex Cooperation bought out a console, it outsold every other console you could possibly think of. The things were flying off the shelves. You could find a Flex console in almost each and every household and gaming centres were popping up here, there and everywhere. The reason? The Flex console was designed with holographic technology. The game you were playing could be brought to life in your very own living room. After that the Introflex Cooperation invested their profits in making the consoles better and better. The graphics were better, the gaming was much more intense, and everyone was hooked. Until version 3.4, then the world changed.
Versions 0, to 3.3 were all gaming technologies infused with holographic technology. Version 3.4 explored a different kind of technology. Introflex was losing money, now that hologram technology had been mastered, everyone was using it and Introflex wasn’t that big of a thing anymore. So, Introflex considered a new approach to sell their latest game. The game was a simple one, based on vampires.
They researched new breakthroughs in science, chemical DNA and the structure of a human’s brain. They finally found what they were looking for and got to work. They created a virus, one that when spread was supposed to entice people to buy the vampire game. In practice it turned those affected into vampires. These vampires were hooked on blood, but also digital technology. They stick near cities where they can feel the hum of electricity; they are like batteries that need charging. If they go too far from electricity, they start to shut down.
Thankfully the company chose a virus that most are immune to. A number of people became digital vampires, because their numbers are so few, the general public don’t know about it. Introflex kept it quiet, worried of the consequences. Soon, many of the Introflex employees had also become infected by a mutated strand left in the laboratories and for the sake of human life outside, the Introflex labs were quarantined by the manager. Before he quarantined the labs, and everything was put under lockdown, four interns snuck out. It was a good thing they did too, shortly after the labs were locked down, the infection grew and vampires fought for a few days before they died from lack of food.
These four interns have taken on the job of killing every single digital vampire for the sake of the human race’s continuation. Who are they going to tell after all? It’s not like anyone is going to believe them that vampires are running loose in the city.
