I got a HoP and opened it, hoping for the surfboard I mentioned earlier. I got a Beach Umbrella and a Plastic Bucket (along with a Starfish). Guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow, unless I can successfully breed a uni and get a HoP from an objective.

My unicorn is pregnant and covered in the correct conditions. Does it matter if I use aging points on her?

I wouldn't use up your HOPs just yet. The event is on for another week or so, so I'm sure you'll be able to get one.
